Russell Westbrook’s Wife Rips ESPN For “Vampire” Comments
Russell Westbrook is someone who has been slandered a lot by reporters over the years. Typically, reporters don’t like Russ because of his style of play. Moreover, he has been short with the media on a few occasions. However, one can chalk that up to their treatment of him. All-in-all, it is one of those chicken and the egg type situations. You don’t actually know which one came first. Either way, the media does not like Westbrook, and the feeling is definitely mutual.
On Wednesday night, Westbrook was traded by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Utah Jazz. Subsequently, the Lakers got back D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt. This was thanks to the Minnesota Timberwolves who came in as the third team. Overall, Russ is going to be getting a fresh start as the Jazz are set to buy out his contract. There is no telling what will happen next for Westbrook. However, it will definitely be better than whatever happened with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Russell Westbrook Slander
During an ESPN report yesterday, Dave McMenamin revealed that one source called Westbrook a “vampire.” This kind of reporting drew the ire of many in the NBA community. Furthermore, it upset Westbrook’s wife Nina, who took to the comments of the post above with some strong words. “This is just sick ESPN…Russell is no vampire,” Westbrook wrote. “This is also slander because anyone who knows anything knows that this couldn’t be further from the truth. On a personal note, I have school-aged children who have to listen to their peers repeat the nasty things that you guys say on television about their father.”
Many have noted just how personal some of the attacks against Westbrook have been. Overall, it feels like some of this has gone beyond basketball, which isn’t right whatsoever. Hopefully, Russ is given another chance this year, and he is able to change the narratives against him, once and for all. Let us know what you think of Nina Westbrook’s comments, down below.
