Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has announced that Frank Ocean will co-headline the two-weekend event held in April.
After the 2020 cancellation of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Frank Ocean is coming to Indio, California in April. On Friday, January 6, the music festival unveiled its all-star lineup with co-headliners Bad Bunny and BLACKPINK. Held during two weekends from April 14-16 and April 21-23, also included on the Coachella 2023 bill are Pusha T, Burna Boy, Earthgang, Kaytranada, Saba, Tems, Willow, Doechii, Latto, Noname, GloRilla, Flo Milli, Fousheé, 070 Shake, IDK and more.
Ocean was originally slated to co-headline the 2020 iteration of Coachella, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His first festival appearance since Los Angeles’ FYF in 2017, Ocean is also scheduled to release his first full-length movie this year, which he directed in partnership with A24 and 2AM. While plot details are unknown, it’s alleged that the working title for the film is Philly. The Grammy-winning artist, 35, last spoke about working on new music during an episode of Apple Music’s Blonded Radio last July, where he was in conversation with psychologist and writer Dr. James Fadiman.
“Forgive how, like, free associative this might feel. … I was working in Malibu this summer and I would go out, like, pretty late from the studio and there’s, like, a big population of coyotes in Malibu,” he said around the 13:11 mark of the “blonded Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” episode. “And then when I would go outside I would see, like, all these bunnies running around and it reminded me of video games where you’re, like, a wizard or something. And you’re playing this role in this game and you’re running around and you have these little things to pick up and put in the pouch.”
Ugh was stuck in drafts 🫠
