Ice Spice has been a mainstay on Shazam’s Hip-Hop/R&B chart, her 2021 breakout “Munch (Feelin’ U)” peaking at No. 11.

Ice Spice is clearly an artist on the rise. On Wednesday (December 4), music discovery app Shazam announced what fans of Spice’s breakout hit “Munch (Feelin’ U)” already knew – that the Bronx rapper has the potential for a breakthrough year. While gearing up for her debut EP, Spice was listed in Shazam’s 10 Artists to Watch list, along with Armenian pop singer Rosa Linn, Puerto Rican Urbano artist Young Miko, Nigerian Afrobeat act Carterefe, and more.

In collaboration with Apple Music’s global editorial team, Shazam used predictive data and algorithms to select this year’s 10 artists, all showing digital indicators of future growth through Shazam activity and discovery trends in more than one country.

“Shazam has always been so useful for me whenever I needed to find the title of a song playing,” Spice said. “I’m happy that it exists!”

Following “Munch,” Spice released single “Bikini Bottom” in October, and recently teased forthcoming single “In Ha Mood” on her 23rd birthday this past Sunday (January 1).

In a recent interview with Erykah Badu and Badu’s eldest daughter Puma Curry for Interview Magazine, Spice mentioned Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat as her dream collaborators, and also spoke on why women are currently dominating in hip-hop.

“Because we’re beautiful as f***,” she said. “Girls are just easier to look at. If there’s ten guys in the room, but one girl, we’re all going to look at the girl. We just have this goddess energy about us and the guys don’t have that extra sense. They’re cool, though.”
