Under the ownership of Snoop Dogg, Death Row Records has now entered the weed business with Death Row Cannabis.
After 30 years of existence, Death Row Records is entering the weed industry under new owner Snoop Dogg. On Thursday (December 29), the record label announced the launch new brand of Death Row Cannabis. A 22-second animated clip with a metallic logo accompanies the news in an Instagram post from artist MylarMen with music from longtime Snoop collaborator DJ Battlecat. A redesigned version of Death Row Records’ iconic logo shows the signature prisoner with his left hand freed, holding a joint.
The inaugural product of Death Row Cannabis will be a cannabis flower, while diamond-infused pre-rolls will also be in the brand’s lineup. Responsible to curating Death Row Cannabis is AK, a West Coast legacy cultivator and industry insider best known for RS11, Studio 54, and Shirazi strains from exotic cannabis breeder DEO.
Death Row Cannabis will release in-stores next week with details about shop locations upon its drop. Select Cookies California stores, founded by San Francisco rapper Berner, will be the first locations to carry Death Row Cannabis. Death Row Cannabis wouldn’t be Snoop’s first time in the marijuana field – in 2015 the rapper established weed brand Leafs by Snoop in the Colorado market.
“Since I’ve been at the forefront of this movement for over 20 years now, I’m a master of marijuana,” Snoop told the Denver Post in the same year. The artist recently made headlines for bumping his weed roller’s previous salary of $40,000 to $50,000 due to “inflation.”
