Bill Cosby, who recently made a special appearance on Marion, Ohio radio show WGH Talk, says he plans to return to the stand-up circuit.
Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby plans to go on tour in 2023. The comedian, 85, recently appeared on Marion, Ohio radio show, where he discussed his return to stand-up with host Scott Spears. In April 2018, Cosby was convicted in Pennsylvania of a criminal sexual assault charge. After three years in prison, Cosby was released in June 2021 after his conviction was overturned by the Supreme Court.
“When I come out of this, I feel that I will be able to perform and be the Bill Cosby that my audience knows me to be,” Cosby told Spears.
When asked by Spears about whether 2023 might be a year for touring, Cosby responded, “Yes. Yes because there’s so much fun to be had in this storytelling that I do. Years ago, maybe 10 years ago, I found it was better to say it after I write it.”
According to Variety, a rep for Cosby says the comedian is “looking at spring/summer to start touring.”
In early December, five women filed a new sexual assault lawsuit against Cosby and NBC under a New York state law that temporarily suspends the statute of limitations for older sexual assault claims. The women allege that the comedian either raped them or forced them into sexual acts, the claims dating back to the late ’80s or 1990 when Cosby played Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show. The fifth lawsuit involves former Hollywood executive, Cindra Ladd, who has accused Cosby of raping her in 1969.
