Seventies icon Pam Grier told to Rolling Stone that she plans for Cardi B to return to the big screen and also praised Megan Thee Stallion.

Blaxploitation legend Pam Grier wants to lift up women in music by bringing them to the big screen. With Grier, 73, as the focus of the fourth season of podcast The Plot Thickens, she recently spoke to Rolling Stone about her impact in film and ongoing plans. During the interview, Grier spilled that she’s writing a movie role for Grammy-winning artist Cardi B.

“I’m writing something for me and Cardi B,” Grier said when asked about being a muse for contemporary women in music. “I love Cardi and ‘WAP.’ I love Megan Thee Stallion. I told her, ‘You and your artistry are beautiful. People are gonna punk you because a stallion is a male horse, but there’s some really foxy mares!’

Cardi B appeared in 2019 crime comedy-drama Hustlers before joining the Fast & Furious franchise in 2021’s F9. The Grammy Award-winning artist is expected to return to the franchise’s tenth installment, expected to release in May.

“She’s really good. She went to college,” Grier added about Megan, before mentioning other notable Black female acts. “You got to have your goals. You’re gonna have haters, you’re gonna have jealousy, but just do your art, do your passion from your heart. She [Megan] and Lizzo and Nicki Minaj and some of the others, they know — you gotta make your own style. You get to hire people later. But you come up with your own stuff, then you just draw people like a magnet, so collaborators make you greater and greater. I want them to find that.”

Grier, who also revealed that she’s played music with Sly Stone and Jimi Hendrix, also gave one final word of advice to the aforementioned Cardi, Meg, Minaj and Lizzo: “But any kind of artist, you’re like a musician, and you don’t know if you’re gonna be heard 40, 50 years later. This music may not be passed on by other artisans. But it’s nice if your music is still played generations later.”
