50 Cent missed out on a hefty check from the 2022 World Cup, as Eminem turned down doing a joint performance with him for the sports event.

50 Cent and Eminem lost a massive payday due to not performing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. While stopping by Real 92.3 radio show Big Boy’s Neighborhood, the Queens native, legal name Curtis Jackson III, revealed that he was unable to perform at the Qatar football tournament due to Em not wanting to partake.

“Because of the Super Bowl, I got an inquiry about World Cup and they had a budget of $9 million,” said Jackson, recalling his appearance at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak. “I would’ve taken one [million] and then the other eight [million] would have been for him.”

Jackson later had a conversation with Eminem’s team about the show proposal.

“They’re like, ‘He’s not gonna do it,’” said Jackson. “If you would do a one-off show, maybe you would do the biggest live sporting event in the world.”

While its unclear why the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee didn’t want to be involved with the World Cup, event’s location of Qatar became controversial due to systemic discrimination against women and the LGBTQ+ community. Per The Guardian, 37 migrant workers died while constructing the 2022 World Cup stadiums.

While Nicki Minaj collaborated with Maluma and Myriam Fares for the official World Cup anthem “Tukoh Taka” last year, performers during the month-long tournament included Lil Baby, Post Malone, Diplo, Jung Kook of BTS, Fahad Al Kubaisi, Ozuna, Davido, Trindad Cardona and more.
