Isaiah Lee, who rushed Dave Chappelle onstage at the Hollywood Bowl in May, has been sentenced to 270 days in county jail.

Comedian Dave Chappelle has finally received justice in the aftermath of being attacked at the Hollywood Bowl in May. On Wednesday (December 14), 24-year-old Isaiah Lee, who rushed Chappelle during his Netflix Is A Joke performance on May 3, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of battery and entering a restricted area during a live event. According a spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Lee was sentenced to 270 days in county jail.

During the incident, Lee was reportedly tackled by security guards for several minutes during the comedy festival. In a May interview with The New York Post, Lee admitted that the Hollywood Bowl incident was partially for “clout chasing,” but also because he was triggered by Chappelle’s past jokes on transgender people and pedophilia. Lee, who is bisexual, was armed with a replica gun which concealed a knife while attacking Chappelle.

“I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect,” Lee said at the time. “I wanted Dave Chappelle and people to know that these are things you need to be more sensitive about and not joke about.”

The 24-year-old also said Chappelle confronted him backstage about why he was rushed. “I told him my mother and grandmother, who fought for his civil rights to be able to speak, would be upset at the things he said,” Lee said. To this, Chappelle allegedly responded, “Now your story will die with you, son.”

Lee still faces a murder charge in an unrelated case where he’s alleged to have stabbed a former roommate in December 2021.
